Born and raised in California, Karen Nguyen always had a love for film and video. She first earned national recognition for her documentary on child labor for National History Day at the age of 12. In college, she focused on working for the student government and spearheading improvements in the computer science department. Karen graduated with a Bachelor's in Computer Science from UC Berkeley.
With the proliferation of online digital video and user-generated content, Karen decided to join
Jumpcut, an exciting startup focused on online video editing. Although her primary roll was as a developer, Karen became very active in the video community, both creating and editing videos. She met some fantastic fellow creators and has a strong and supportive fan base.
Karen has a very healthy and normal obsession with social media, fruit and "The Wizard of Oz". She is heavily involved in online social communities like Facebook and Twitter and enjoys trying out new web technologies. She continues to shoot and edit short videos whenever inspiration strikes and regularly blogs on her site karenism.com about technology, film and food.
